A team of researchers from Carnegie Mellon University (Pennsylvania) presents a watch capable of projecting an interface on the forearm. An air of déjà vu? Not quite

This is not the first team to try, but the prototype unveiled here is functional. It is surely to date the first projector usable. The researchers have published a detailed document explaining how it works.

    But what is this witchcraft?
This projector watch works simply. Once attached to the wrist, it projects a kind of lock screen. To unlock, just slide your finger along the bar displayed on the forearm, like the "slide to unlock" of old iPhones. This manipulation avoids accidental contacts that would initiate unwanted manipulations.

Exactly, once unlocked, the watch projects the icons of the available applications. According to the researchers, the surface of the projected interface is five times larger than those of the usual smart watches. The watch itself is thick and its size is important: 50mm x 41mm x 17mm. Remember that this is a prototype.

This watch incorporates among others a projector and a depth sensor, by far the two essential elements to make everything work. The 15 lumens projector uses three lasers - red, blue and green. The projection is also bright enough to be seen outside.

Autonomy in continuous use is low: one hour, but reasonable use throughout the day would keep a whole day. The researchers estimate that the cost of selling this prototype would be around $ 600. Here is a video of one of the researchers who shows the latter in action.

The team of researchers admits, this projector is far from perfect and marketable but it shows progress. The main problem is the management of finger detection and display on the forearm, and it must be admitted that this part of the body is not the most smooth and flat.

Using your smartphone as a credit card is a prospect that can put off more than one. Yet, more and more users are adopting this solution. Why is it interesting? Is it secure? How to use it ? This is what we will see today.

To pay in store, there are several methods today. From the traditional species to the inevitable bank card through the old check, everyone finds his account (bank). The latest in settlement is the mobile method. Via a special application, it is indeed possible to pay by putting the phone on the card terminal, like the payment without contact.

Mobile payment, how does it work?
Payment via a smartphone is done by placing the device on a credit card terminal. With NFC technology for short-distance data transmission, as well as a dedicated application on the device, the phone will function as the contactless of a blue card.

NFC can be activated or deactivated via the Network options of the smartphone. Be careful though, it may soon be no longer (correctly) deactivatable.

As for the application, it is she who will make the link between your bank account and the NFC of your phone.

With which applications and which banks?
On Android, there are several services that can pay with your mobile. The main ones are:

    • Google Pay, formerly Android Pay, whose launch in France is expected in the coming weeks. The application is also compatible with online banking N26 recently.
    • Samsung Pay, the solution for users of the brand's devices, which is now available. For now, only the Caisse d'Epargne and the Banque Populaire are compatible for us French, others should quickly arrive. PayPal is also announced as compatible.
    • Paylib, the French alternative, which has the advantage of being directly included in the application of certain banks such as Société Générale, Banque Populaire and Crédit Agricole

    Samsung Pay

                   Paylib sans contact
                    Societe Generale

At Apple, the choice is much more limited since it is Apple Pay who has the monopoly of mobile payment on iOS. Boursorama Banque, Société Générale, N26, Caisse d'Epargne, Banque Populaire and Carrefour Banque are compatible with Apple's service

    And security in all this?
An essential problem is often mentioned when talking about mobile payment, that of security.

Can I pay with my phone without my noticing?

Some mobile payment services, such as Paylib, offer to pay without a security barrier up to a certain configurable amount of 0 to 20 euros. The operation is therefore similar to that of the contactless payment of a conventional card. Beyond this, the application must be open and ask you for any passwords, face recognition or fingerprint recognition that you have set up.

Disabling the NFC also blocks any payment attempt.

What if my phone is stolen?

Mobile payment works like a dematerialization of a bank card, simulating it on the phone. If you ever steal your phone, to oppose the card will permanently block any transaction. Same reflex as for directly a loss of blue card, therefore.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is leaked before the time on the Web, with some details about its possible features.

This is not a surprise, every year the South Korean manufacturer renews its various ranges of appliances, starting with the top of the sector. The so-called Galaxy S9 and S9 +, evolution of the current S8 and S8 +, could be presented at the beginning of the year according to some rumors.
For now, the leaker Benjamin Geskin has posted on Twitter more details about the new flagships. In addition to logos, he adds additions to the technical part. The Galaxy S9 and S9 + should therefore embark, according to the variant, a Snagdragon SoC 845 engraved in 7 nm (for the American market among others) or an Exynos 9 home chip in 10 nm (or even 8 nm if the firm uses its new technology) . The processor would in any case be supported by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, always expandable via microSD. Finally, this new generation should also embark a dual sensor, like the Galaxy Note 8, but better.
According to the model numbers listed, a dual SIM version of the two terminals is planned for certain markets, which does not change habits. Moreover, we know that a borderless AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 is planned, but it remains to be seen if Samsung will have succeeded in integrating the impression sensor under the slab, or if the manufacturer will have had to reconsider its strategy by adopting better positioning.
More information will fall in the coming months, knowing that Samsung may be ahead of the competition by formalizing its Galaxy S9 and S9 + in January.

Is fast charging the most important innovation of recent years? More than the performance of a smartphone, what better than to be able to refuel without spending hours?

The most significant evolution of our smartpnones?

The technological evolutions observed on high-end smartphones in recent years are spectacular. Borders without edges (well almost), processors whose raw power does not have much to envy to those of the PCs, photo optics producing results closer and closer to "real" devices. But what is all this compared to true innovation that changes everything: the fast charge associated with SoC and screens less energy intensive!

This is something that has a real impact on how we use and enjoy our mobile devices. Because in fact, being quite honest with ourselves, what do we have to blame for our smartphones? Their performances? We can always do better for greedy uses like 3D games, but frankly, in general use, I feel like I see the same reactivity for the current tasks for 5 years. The quality of their screen? Again, it's a plus, but we've made a leap in readability for years. And we take pictures more and more beautiful, and it's great, but there is one thing that we always plague regularly: the battery level after a day of work.
It was a real problem just a few years ago. I do not count the number of times my smartphone was at a low battery while I did not have time to recharge more than 10%. So of course the ultimate solution would be to find smartphones with autonomy worthy of a Nokia 3310. It's beautiful to dream, but it will probably not happen. There are of course terminals able to cash almost two days of use without recharging, but generally, it goes with their size.
Big battery or fast charge? Why not the two of them !
However, if the problem does not arise today, it will arise tomorrow if you skip a refill and you find yourself in harbor before returning, or to leave far from a power outlet. And in these cases, we appreciate the fact of being able to find enough juice without too much delay or immobilize his phone too long, what offer technologies Quick Charge, recently in version 4+ or the standard USB Power Delivery.
And one does not prevent the other: the Huawei Mate 10 Pro put both on a big battery and a quick recharge via Quick Charge 4, and it was already the case of the Mate 9 (in Quick Charge 3 ). And it happened to me, with this last one, to hold two and a half days like to find myself in difficult situation at the beginning of evening, for example during a day of tourism where I mobilize enormously the camera and the GPS.

And perhaps even more than the battery capacity, the speed of recharge can save your day. Because most of the time, it's not whether we'll still have enough energy in two days that matters, but how long we'll be able to hold for what we intend to do there, all of after. The recharge time and the "15 minutes you can regain two hours of battery life" argument is often seen as a misery cache for a small battery. But depending on your usage, it may be primarily what you need.
    A need for standardization
Still, in terms of fast charging, proprietary technologies are multiplying, with some confusion in the key. Google anticipated a firm response by demanding USB Power Delivery for Android Oreo, to the detriment of Quick Charge, Dash Charge and other VOOCs. This requirement has turned into a recommendation, knowing that Quick Charge 4+, the latest version of Qualcomm's technology, supports the Power Delivery standard. Eventually, and as long as the march to standards continues, the adoption of this feature should take even greater momentum, and we all have to win.

Nothing is more between Google and Microsoft who blame each other for the way they handle security breaches. It all started two years ago when Google launched its famous "Project Zero" aimed at detecting security holes in the competition. When Google searchers find a flaw, they alert the publisher who has 90 days to issue a fix. If the problem is not corrected after this time, the vulnerability is published on the Web. A method that is not to the liking of Microsoft, who decided to go for it.
Google has repeatedly uncovered security holes discovered in Windows before Microsoft corrects them via an update. Last May, one of Google's researchers for Project Zero announced that it had found the worst security vulnerability ever discovered in Windows. Vice President of Windows Terry Myerson has criticized Google's methods, which he blames for disclosing security flaws in a completely irresponsible way. Not enough to curb the crusade of researchers from the Project Zero team at Google, which were even further by publishing in early October a ticket in which they criticize the system of security updates from Microsoft. The article explains that Microsoft systematically releases patches for Windows 10, before dealing with previous versions of the OS. According to the researchers, this strategy could allow an attacker to analyze the patches published on Windows 10 in order to find the corrected faults, and then exploit them on the previous un-updated versions of the OS.
    The post of too much!
Suffice to say that the giant Redmond has not tasted this last ticket and decided to respond quickly. Microsoft security teams have been working on the security of the Google Chrome browser, which they found, on September 14, a vulnerability that could allow to run malicious code remotely. Microsoft has contacted Google, which has since published an update. But the publisher of Redmond took the opportunity to tackle his opponent and criticize in turn his management of publication of patches. On the blog that reports the discovery of vulnerability, Microsoft researchers criticize Google's approach that released the Github patch source code nearly a month before Chrome was updated. Jordan Rabet, part of the Microsoft Offensive Security Research team, points out that this strategy offers all the time needed for an attacker to exploit the security breach. For the moment, Microsoft is somehow his revenge ... until the next fault?

Could the reign of x86 processors on PCs soon be challenged by the arrival of ARM on this segment? Qualcomm seems to have the ambition.

Whether to wait for the next edition of CES to see what they look like, Qualcomm has recently delivered some additional details, especially regarding the autonomy of these future notebooks.
Very optimistic, the American company announces that it will be possible to use Netflix for 29 hours on a laptop "thin and light". In 4G, and for a more intensive use, one could count on a little twenty hours of life. A huge gain compared to a notebook processor Intel, the best struggling to exceed the 10 hours of streaming under Netflix. Figures that must be taken with big tweezers, although they do not seem totally crazy: potentially with a larger battery on a 10-inch tablet and limited to a Full HD screen, a SoC such as the Snapdragon 835 is likely to exceed 20 hours of autonomy, under certain specific conditions. If Qualcomm's claims are confirmed during testing, it would be a real blow for Intel.

The publication of the quarterly results of North American mobile operators confirms the situation that everyone expected because of the schedule chosen by Apple to market its new iPhone. The iPhone 8 suffer the wait-and-see attitude of consumers towards the iPhone X as well as the competition of the iPhone 7. As a result, sales are declining and the stock market is punishing.

Yesterday, the price of the Apple stock fell nearly 3%, indicating a certain reluctance among shareholders; the blame for a lower demand than expected for the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Should we be surprised, while all the attention crystallizes since the last keynote of Apple on the iPhone X, the most innovative terminal of the 2017 range of the manufacturer? In our opinion, not really. But the financial markets can sometimes be rational, and when the heads of Verizon and Rogers - who are respectively the first mobile operators in the United States and Canada - confirm that sales of iPhone 8 are low, it is a blow uncertainty about investors.

Rogers spokesman said the call was "anemic" in the third quarter for new iPhone already released, while Matt Ellis, chief financial officer of Verizon, confirmed that sales of iPhone "have been well below those of previous years over the same period ". "I think what we're seeing is simply due to the timing difference in the ads and the releases compared to the way Apple had done in previous years  We're not worried. in the holiday season, and the release of new highly anticipated terminals should allow the demand to start up again strongly, "he says, obviously referring to the iPhone X.

For Daniel Ives, head of strategy at GBH Insights analyst firm, quoted by Reuters, this is not surprising. "The stock market is hypersensitive to any change in the pace of the iPhone cycles this year, the slightest information about production has an effect, the demand for iPhone 8 is naturally low, since no one is fooled: 'is the iPhone X which is the figurehead of the range iPhone this year, "he analysis. Nobody will give him wrong, and just add that the iPhone 8 are obviously the competition of iPhone 7 which are still in the catalog, have the same design, remain very efficient and have a clear advantage price level. Just after the release of the iPhone 8, American analysts had also begun to indicate that sales of iPhone 7 remained stronger.

Unfortunately, Apple does not report any specific sales figures for its iPhone models, which would have allowed us to better analyze the situation. We can only say that the AT & T operator presented its third quarter results, indicating that it sold 900,000 fewer smartphones than a year ago, and that the absence of the iPhone X on the stalls was cited as one of the main reasons, confirming that many consumers wanting to renew their high-end terminal are in the expectation, not cooled by the price that Apple will practice on this new model - namely € 1,159 in 64 GB and 1,329 version € 256GB version. The demand should start up again with the release of this model, provided of course that there is sufficient inventory on shelves, which is already problematic.

iPhone 8: low demand drives action down

DxOMark engineers released Friday the results of their camera test Huawei Mate 10 Pro, presented Monday. The new Chinese headliner gets 97 points, making it the second best camera in the category, and the best in Europe.
The Mate 10 Pro is actually 1 point behind the Google Pixel 2, which are not distributed in France. It supersedes the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, rated 94 points.
    An "exceptional" camera
DxOMark rated the performance of the Mate 10 Pro "outstanding" in photo, with a sub-score of 100 points, tied with the Galaxy Note 8. The lab highlights the excellent dynamic range of the device, which preserves detail in shadows and highlights even with contrasting scenes. According to our own findings, the smartphone produces native photos worthy of HDR photos from smartphones a little less talented.
The latest Huawei also provides an "exceptional" autofocus, a very good measure of exposure, a good white balance slightly favoring warm colors, and good sensitivity, preserving detail even in low light.
"A dual sensor in a different (but excellent) way"
Background blur often goes hand in hand with the 2x zoom of a second sensor. Not at Huawei, which implements the dual sensor differently from Apple or Samsung. The Mate 10 Pro is actually equipped with a 12-megapixel color sensor assisted by a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor.
The Mate 10 Pro, however, offers a "lossless" magnification by exploiting a fraction of the 20 monochrome megapixels, and drawing the colors of the main sensor. DxO notes that the results are better than the single-sensor Pixel 2, but not as good as the optical zoom of the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
The latest Huawei still offers a portrait mode, wide angle, which isolates well the subject and the objects of the same plan, still a little better than the iPhone 8 Plus, with a background blur moderate but pretty.
    Honorable video
Finally, in terms of video, DxOMark believes that the benefits of Mate 10 Pro are not as exceptional as in photo, but they are honorable. DxO emphasizes fast autofocus, good stabilization, good exposure, but a slight lack of detail and dynamics.
So much for the cold notation of the camera by DxO engineers. We will publish our complete test this weekend, stay tuned!

Available since last spring, the Philips POS9002 OLED TV is replacing the POS901F series introduced initially at IFA 2016, all again under the sign of Android TV. Without further ado, here is our verdict.

In line with the current range of Philips LED televisions with the 6000/7000/8000 series, and after a first trial in 2016, TP Vision renews its offer of OLED TV with the POS9002, declined this year in 55-inch and 65-inch versions.

Broadly speaking, the gap with last year's POS901F was expected to be quite relative, if not the integration of the latest generation of OLED LG tiles. The same one that equips the series 7 of the Korean manufacturer.
    Android TV OLED Philips POS9002
The main difference here comes from the P5 Perfect Engine, a new image processing engine. In theory, the manufacturer indicates a performance improvement of about 50% compared to the Perfect Pixel UHD used until then, a gain supposed to materialize by a better control of what TP Vision calls the five variables: the quality of the source, sharpness, contrast, color, and fluidity of movements.

The TV naturally relies on Android TV, but by the time we write these lines, the migration to Android 7.0 Nougat is unfortunately still not effective. This should happen in the next few weeks, at least it is hoped.

The 9000 series is available in diagonal 55 inches (55POS9002) and available for an indicative price of 2490 €. A declination 65 inches will see the day from January 2018 with a price located around the 4000 €.

    Design

Contrary to the slightly more atypical lines of the POS901F, especially at the level of the feet which had the very big defect of possessing a very (very) large wheelbase - a real problem for the furniture wider -, Philips revises its copy somewhat. The TV has a sober but pleasant design with the choice of a brushed aluminum finish, however, it remains a step short of its predecessor.
This is due, however, to a slightly lower price position, the chassis in the back is simply made of black plastic, and the sound bar has disappeared in favor of a more conventional audio system. Nothing is unacceptable in both cases, especially if it saves a few euros.

However, although the quality of production is generally in line with what is found in the competition, and beyond the proven fragility of the OLED, it is really difficult to understand which fly has stung the manufacturer at the level of the base.

Wherever Panasonic and Sony opt for solid supports on which the TV comes to be clipped, the POS9002 requires that the slab be placed on a flat surface to fix the foot. It does not bother us much for an LED TV, for an OLED TV on the other hand, particularly sensitive to the slightest pressure on the slab, the step is far more perilous than usual. Plus in any case a Panasonic TX-55EZ950 that I was able to install alone without any problem a few months ago for the small anecdote.
A decent level of equipment, but a disappointing remote control

The connectivity is quite complete, so we find two HDMI 2.0b inputs (4K / 60, HDR, Deep Color, etc.) including an input compatible with the audio feedback channel (ARC), two HDMI 1.4 inputs, a digital audio output an RCA audio input (via an adapter), a headphone output, a CI + port, three USB ports (including a USB 3.0 port), antenna inputs and an RJ-45 Ethernet socket.

On the equipment side, the TV features Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth connectivity, and a DVB-T / Cable / Satellite tuner compatible with HbbTV, Recording and Pause TV functions.

The TV comes with a Bluetooth remote control with QWERTY keyboard. The grip is rather good, unfortunately the ergonomics is somewhat tainted by the lack of relief of the keys, which occasionally induces some errors of entries, a note also valid for the directional pad. The absence of backlighting of the keys does not, of course, solve the situation.

    A word about the Ambilight

The POS9002 is an essential part of the brand's televisions and incorporates Ambilight 3-sided lighting technology. Whether you like Ambilight or not, you have to admit that it has some advantages, such as reducing visual fatigue. Finally, provided you lower a brightness set to the maximum by default ...
TP Vision offers several Ambilight modes (Natural, Standard, Immersive, Game, etc.), many adjustments to adjust the intensity or color tone, and the ability to synchronize the lighting of the TV with the Philips bulbs Hue.

    A word on the sound

The audio section is one of the main items of savings, compared with the POS901F which delivered correct performances (but no more), is entirely fortuitous.

The sound quality is lower than its elder, the results are correct to watch some common programs, but the addition of a sound bar in the basket is to be seriously considered if you want more, unless you already possessed a home theater installation.

    Android TV bis

While the arrival of Android Nougat is delayed by the time some manufacturers have already switched over several weeks / months, in the state the POS9002 offers nothing more nor less than its predecessor.

Although the manufacturer has replaced the SoC MediaTeK MT5890 with a MT5891 architected around four ARM cores Cortex-A53, in other words nothing extravagant since it is the same chip that also equips the Sony and TCL models, gap between the two generations is not particularly noticeable for use, to say the least, since some slowdowns and a slight latency are still to be deplored.

In contrast, the multimedia section has been improved, not a bad one considering the very poor results of the POS901F. The vast majority of our video samples have been read from an external hard drive (NTFS, at least one in three ...) or a UPnP server.
HD 720p and 1080p videos encoded in H.264 pass perfectly, as well as 1080p and 4K video files encoded in HEVC and VP9, with or without HDR. Dolby Digital and DTS audio tracks encapsulated in an MKV or MP4 are also accepted without problems.

    Image quality

In terms of video processing, the POS9002 delivers very good results, the P5 Perfect Engine processor gain compared to the aging UHD Pixel Engine is undeniable. At least on some sources.
Beyond good quality scaling of HD 1080i / p sources, especially on 1080i HD TV channels due to the quality of the deinterlacing impeccable, the most surprising however comes from the improvement of the processing of sources in standard definition.

While there is no obvious expectation of a miracle, since the upscale process of a 480 or 576p video source in 2160p UHD inevitably results in loss, quality is generally adequate, and the management of artifacts compression is more effective. The results on DVD are very convincing.

On the other hand, the gain on more qualitative sources does not really matter, which is still quite logical. This does not prevent the POS9002 from delivering very good image quality on Blu-ray & Blu-ray 4K, as well as on MKVs of well-encoded movies / TV series, and some applications such as Netflix, Amazon and myCANAL.
Of the few 4K HDR sources tested during his stay, the POS9002 proved to be to its advantage. Although the manufacturer has chosen to lower the power of the HDR light peaks by default to maintain a good level of detail on the rest of the picture, the TV reaches 640 cd / m².

It is of course possible to go through the settings box to retouch the modes HDR Perfect and HDR Contrast in order to enhance very slightly the power of the luminous peaks, some adjustments thus reach the 680 cd / m², but ideally I do not recommend it.

Note also the good results of the TV in terms of input lag in Game mode, a effort was clearly made on this point with 37 ms recorded in 1080p / 60 Hz and 34 ms in 4K / 60 Hz.

    Too much sharpness kills sharpness

Beyond the qualities of OLED technology in contrast, the sharpness of the image and the definition are particularly supported, a few small precautions of use are required. If the audience is divided into two categories, on the one hand those who seek above all a very clear image, and on the other those who want a picture as natural as possible, the power of video processing remains a data not to be neglect.
The Sharpness setting offered by the TV requires a minimum of precautions to avoid over-sharpening of the edges, or a degradation of the image quality with Ultra Resolution, a very aggressive treatment which is of no further interest , if not to enhance the video noise, as we highlighted during the POS901F test. This is even truer on 4K HDR sources, with HDR metadata already participating in increasing sharpness.

We also regret the lack of interest of the Natural Motion, a mechanism of aid to fluidity which introduces a most unpleasant camcorder effect. Fortunately, TP Vision additionally adds a Clear Motion setting, which is also manually adjustable, which reduces motion blur without introducing a camcorder effect. However, we are still far from the results delivered by the Motionflow of Sony, which remains the reference in this matter.

Adjustments that oscillate between the very bad and the very good

At the output of the cardboard, the majority of the image modes proposed offer results that are more than perfectable, in particular as regards the colorimetry. As always, the two ISF Day and ISF Night modes deliver the best results, the color temperature and the colorimetry prove rather good.
Only flat, a slight banding - a phenomenon that is reflected by vertical bands on certain types of image, such as football games or some night scenes - is visible. This is not exceptional, however, the phenomenon affects all OLED slabs signed by LG.

Just like the trend of the antireflective coating to magenta, only the Panasonic EZ1000 is an exception (partial) on this point.

    Final test score 8/10
While the buyers of the first generation of OLED Philips had unfortunately somewhat wiped the plaster, the POS9002 is a TV definitely more accomplished than its elder. Despite some minor compromises in terms of finishing and the disappearance of a bar in any case largely dispensable, the choice to prioritize competitiveness is fully justified.

The Philips OLED TV delivers a particularly convincing image quality, in particular thanks to the P5 processor's contribution and the accuracy of the ISF image modes, an astonishing contrast (like any OLED) and a beautiful HDR brightness. Not to mention the few improvements made by the manufacturer, such as the improvement of the input lag and a multimedia section "finally" correct.

Some disadvantages are still of the game, especially with regard to Android TV, on the one hand by an experience far from the level of a Shield TV, and the delay accumulated by the manufacturer in the deployment of day, by the hour or Android Oreo already points the tip of his nose. On the other hand, and despite the support of HDR10 and HLG formats, the absence of Dolby Vision is regrettable compared to its direct competitor, the LG B7V.

Test of the Android TV OLED Philips POS9002: a second test transformed

The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is being held in San Francisco. The Apple Developer Conference is a true fairytale for Apple brand fans. Both developers and businessmen come together to discuss the future of Apple, not to mention a multitude of engineers. Check out what's new for Apple.
Some may wonder why we are interested in Apple ads. The answer is simple. It is always interesting to discover what the competition offers and the changes made to the software.

Date and location of the Apple WWDC
The WWDC conference will take place from Monday 5 to Friday 9 June. Unlike in past years, it will not be held in San Francisco but at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. The reason ? The latter is just minutes from Apple's new offices in Cupertino.

As always, the conference will start with an opening keynote, which will be held on Monday evening at 7 pm (Paris time) and where the most important novelties will be announced. The rest of the week will be devoted to conferences with developers and Apple teams. Participants will be able to meet and interact with more than 1000 engineers.

    WWDC: What to expect?
    1. iOS 11
Like every year, Apple will take advantage of the WWDC keynote to introduce the new version of its iOS system. This version 11 of the mobile operating system should focus on video editing and sharing on social networks and a slightly refreshed interface.

New features exclusively for the iPad would also be part, especially at the level of Apple Pencil. The recognition of the writing and the drawing should be improved in order to return to the level that offers the Galaxy Tab S3.
    2. macOS 10.13, tvOS 11 and WatchOS 4
New versions for macOS, tvOS and WatchOS will also be unveiled. The Mac OS 10.13 system should in turn adopt the APFS file system, as is already the case for iOS, and benefit from some aesthetic retouching. WatchOS 4 could be enriched with new features to better manage its activity and its sleep with also the support of intelligent bracelets.
As for tvOS, Apple should introduce multi-user compatibility as well as an image mode in the image appears. Features similar to what we saw in the Developer Preview of Android O
    3. Siri 2.0
Faced with the progress of Google Wizard and the growing competition in the digital assistant industry, Apple could announce an important upgrade for Siri. The Apple wizard could be integrated into the Messages application to answer contextual questions. Siri should also be able to integrate in all third-party applications.
    4. Siri Smart Speaker
A new Apple enclosure in the style of Amazon Echo, Google Home or Microsoft Invoke could see the light of day and integrate Siri for commercialization next September
    5. A 10.5-inch iPad Pro
A new iPad of an unprecedented size of 10.5 inches that would come between the models of 9.7 and 12.9 inches could be unveiled, which should perhaps lead to the disappearance of the iPad mini.

    6. New technical specifications for MacBook
Finally, the WWDC could be the occasion for the Cupertino firm to launch new Macbooks, including a third generation MacBook Retina with new Intel Core M processors, MacBook Pro equipped with a Kaby Lake chip and perhaps a Last update of the MacBook Air 13 inches before he will most likely retire next year.

The Developer Preview of Android O can already be downloaded on smartphones and tablets (Nexus and Pixel). We summarize here everything you need to know about this new version. Release date, compatible devices, installation tutorials, all the new ... You will not be able to say that you do not know what it is!

File updated on June 4: Added the link to the list of terminals announced as compatible with the future update.

On March 21, 2017, while no one was expecting it, Google announced Android O. Here's all you need to know about this version!

Video: We tested Android O, what's new?

Android O: Version number, name and novelties
You will understand that if you follow Google's habits and you know your alphabet well, Android O is the successor to Android N (Android 7.0 Nougat). Currently, its version number is not yet known, but many are betting on Android 8.0. Also, its full name has not yet been revealed, even if Google already begins its teasing. Orange Cake? Oreo? Opera? Still a little patience !

The new features of this version should satisfy a certain number of users. In bulk, for example, there may be limitation of background applications in order to save energy, better management of notifications, a picture-in-picture mode or some cosmetic changes. You can see it with our home screenshots.

Compatible Terminals, Release Date, and Installation Tutorials
If you want to try Android O, you will certainly have to arm yourself with patience unless you own one of the few compatible terminals and install it manually. For the time being, this version is only compatible with the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL.

Although no other devices have yet been updated at this time, manufacturers are already beginning to promise updates for their terminals. Find a list of all compatible devices.

The installation on Nexus is not very complicated, and if you want to skip the step, you can refer to our dedicated tutorial.
For now, Android O is still at the beta stage (Developer Preview). Three more versions of this kind are expected to be deployed by the end of the summer, while the final release will only be available in the third quarter, certainly in parallel with the launch of the second generation of Google Pixel. Obviously it is still too early to decide on third-party manufacturers who have not yet announced a date of availability on their various terminals.

Like any subscription video service, YouTube Red must have as many original programs as possible to attract consumers. And this year, the platform should put the package.

Alphabet, the holding company of Google, decided to open the valves to help YouTube Red - launched late 2015 - to grow. Subscription streaming video and music service ($ 9.99 per month) will benefit from a much larger operating budget, which will help it produce many new programs. YouTube announces some 40 new shows, half a dozen of which will be broadcast free to all. Of course, YouTube has tried to entrust some of them to personalities, and this is how it is learned that Kevin Hart, comedians Rhett & Link, Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato or Ludacris will appear or Will produce some of these new programs. Also, we learn that some will benefit from budgets that can oscillate between $ 3 and $ 6 million an hour, which corresponds to what can be invested in their series of networks like HBO or Showtime.

Google reminds that it is only in 2016 that the production of original content has started and in less than a year it is already about thirty series and films that are released exclusively on YouTube Red. Beyond the only amounts generated by YouTube Red subscriptions, the platform hopes to start generating revenues this year via past advertising partnerships for its films and series, as part of product placements or sponsorship operations. Please note that on YouTube Red, no ads are displayed. Undoubtedly, the emergence of exclusive content on competing services such as Netflix or Amazon Video has given ideas to YouTube Red, which also needs recurring content to attract new subscribers but also for Retain over time.

On the other hand, it is not known if YouTube plans to offer Red in new countries; The service is not yet available in France.

The iPhone 8 is currently at the heart of the rumors, and due to several leaks have occurred in recent days. And it can still intensify over the weeks. Benjamin Geskin got his hands on new elements, the so-called mold of the iPhone 8 and a new scheme.
First of all these photographs of the mold show well the double photo sensor that Apple is preparing to put in the vertical. It is also noted that in the picture on the left, the mold goes to the bottom of the chassis contrary to the picture on the right. This lets us think that the lower back part of the iPhone 8 could benefit from a material different from the high part ... a little in the way of the iPhone 2G, but that is only a guess.
The new diagram also confirms the presence of the double APN vertically, as well as this strange lower part of which we do not yet know what material will be made. The rumors have a glass back, so maybe there will be a mix with metal. We are still a little in the dark, and only assumptions can be made at the moment. Moreover, it must be taken into account that these patterns and molds are not clearly authenticated, and may come from a Chinese manufacturer based on speculation.
This diagram also shows antenna strips at the four corners of the device. If this is the case, hope Apple will have the good idea to hide them so that the iPhone 8 takes advantage of a design without these awful antennas.
We can also talk about the four points on the top of the mold that could be linked to the arrival of 3D sensors and therefore to the augmented reality, a function that Apple has been looking at for several years. Again, rumors have suggested that this technology could have a real place this year in the iPhone 8.
The future will tell us if these new elements reflect what we expect next fall, when Apple will officially unveil its iPhone 8. Maybe even two since it is said recently that an iPhone 8 Plus could be of the part…

Your masterpiece can then be enlarged and rotated before being saved locally in PNG format or shared online. 8. Yuka for iPhone

The application of rating and product recommendation Yuka has just enjoyed a consistent update. If you do not know this application yet, it can be used to scan the barcode of the products you usually use, whether the product is good or not, for your health.

Yuka decrypts the labels of the products and evaluates them according to their nutritional quality, the presence of additives and their possible biological dimension. The result comes in the form of a color code and an appreciation: excellent, good, mediocre or bad. In the case where the appreciation of the products you consume is negative, the app suggests you similar products better rated, containing less sugar, fat or additives. Each time you scan a product, the application adds it to your history and generates an analysis over the last 30 days, allowing you to visualize the evolution of your eating habits.

Based in part on the Open Food Facts database, Yuka is also responsible for enriching the information it offers. This is indeed one of the points of the update 1.2 which has just been unveiled. The addition of a product is simplified, the application being able to automatically detect the presence of additives from a simple photo of the list of ingredients. Users can also participate in improving the database by correcting errors they spot on product sheets that are then validated by the application team.

Yuka has also updated the repository on which additives are based. Formerly based on that of the UFC Que Choisir, the application now uses the new additives guide, a book entirely dedicated to food additives published very recently. Finally, more than 18,000 new products have been added to the Yuka base thanks to the many contributors.

The AutoDraw AI analyzes your sketch in real time and automatically updates the suggestions it offers. The drawings obtained are, of course, simplistic, but are generally much more regular than what can be done with the mouse when one is not a born artist.

The service also includes a toolkit with which it is possible to choose the color of the line, to add geometric shapes or text, or to fill the elements of your drawing with different colors. Your masterpiece can then be enlarged and rotated before being saved locally in PNG format or shared online. AutoDraw works from any web browser and can even be used from a smartphone and a tablet on which the service interface adapts to the size of the screen on which it is displayed.

    6. Children's Movies (Films pour enfants)

Are you looking to take care of your children on a rainy weekend, but they never stay concentrated for a long time in front of the same activity? Movies for Kids is an online platform featuring many short films and cartoons for 3-9 year olds.

Imagined by producers and directors of short films wishing to "sensitize children to artistic practices", Films for Children is aimed both at parents and teachers in search of poetic and educational films. Sorted by age groups, the works available in the catalog touch on topics as diverse as varied as ecology or friendship. The short films offered are for the most part dumb and are of all times since it is possible to find movies dating from 1955 to the present day.

All the short films on the site are free and perfectly adapted to young audiences, a guarantee of quality and, above all, security if you want to avoid your videos from inappropriate at their age on general platforms like YouTube.

    7. My Chaperone (Mon Chaperon)

If you are kind of not reassured, to return every 10 seconds when you walk back alone after an evening, why not do a little bit of copying? My Chaperon, a mobile application entirely dedicated to this practice, proposes to connect users who do not wish to return alone and are ready to share a journey on foot or by public transport.

If copying is an opportunity to exchange and discuss, it is also a great way to get home peacefully. The application allows both to be chaperoned as well as to offer your services of Chaperon. For example, if you plan on going back in the evening, it is quite possible to propose your journey in advance in order to return with a person who would use the same route. Chaperones are paid, and if you want to make a recurring income supplement, My Chaperone allows you to become a Private Chaperone by creating a dedicated profile.
